Died: December 7, 2022 in LaSalle, IL
Robert "Bob" Barnett, 90, of LaSalle, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at the Illinois Veterans' Home, LaSalle.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa with Rev. Phillip Potaczek, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park where Full Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post #731 Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa and 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday at the church.
Bob was born on August 6, 1932 in Ottawa to Roland and Elsie (Cummings) Barnett. He was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School. Bob married Dolores M. Hoelzer on August 17, 1958 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mendota. He was a Veteran of the US Army and served as a combat medic in the Korean War. Bob participated in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2014. Bob worked in the sand business for 30 years at Wedron Silica and Unimin Corp. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ottawa, Utica American Legion Post #731, the Ottawa Chapter of the Barbershoppers, and over the years sang in various barbershop quartets. Bob loved his time singing, raising quarter horses and spending time watching his children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's sporting events.
Bob is survived by his wife, Dolores; 3 children, Lori (Kevin) Kimes of Ottawa, Karen (Daniel) King of Western Springs, and Brenda (Bryan) Killelea of Ottawa; 7 grandchildren, Ashley (Chad) Holloway, Ryan (Corrine) Kimes, Abigail (Hudson) Stern, Stephanie King, Kathryn (Jack) Donahue, Patrick (Libby) Killelea, and Michael Killelea; 6 great grandchildren; a sister, Elaine (Don) Farmer; and brother-in-law, Barney Sesto.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ruth Sesto.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Kimes, Patrick Killelea, Michael Killelea, Chad Holloway, Dr. Hudson Stern, and Jack Donahue.
Memorials may be directed to American Legion Post #731 in Utica, Trinity Lutheran Church, Ottawa, and the Illinois Veterans' Home, LaSalle.
