Timothy Promenschenkel Obituary

Timothy L. Promenschenkel
Born: October 14, 1962
Died: August 10, 2022
Timothy L. Promenschenkel, 59, of Chesterton, IN, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022 at his home. He was born October 14th, 1962 in Streator, Illinois, son of Rosemary and Theodore Promenschenkel. He married Mary Logan on November 16th, 2002.
Born and raised in Streator, Tim attended Streator High School and graduated in 1980. After high school he became a master of all trades through various employment, allowing him to build a collection of entertaining stories and life lessons that he would often share with friends and family. Tim worked for many years as an over-the-road truck driver before becoming a millwright at Cleveland-Cliffs, Burns Harbor where he worked for the past 10 years, collecting and sharing new stories.
Always willing to help his community, Tim was a Charter Member of the Streator (Hardscrabble) Lions club and was an active service member for many years. Tim and his wife, Mary, moved to Indiana in 2016 where they built their small homestead. A big garden, a small shooting range, and a few dozen chickens (Flopsy & Angel, just to name a few!) brought so much joy to Tim and his family. A very proud Papa, Tim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them important life skills, sharing his passion for cooking, and entertaining them with his collections of stories.
Tim is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Mary Promenschenkel, of Chesterton, Indiana; daughter Sarah (Brady) Loomis of Minooka, Illinois; sons Robert (Caroline) Logan of Valparaiso, Indiana; and Nicholas Logan (Eddie Snell) of Lafayette, Indiana; four grandchildren, Ella and Grayson Loomis, and Aubry and Lucian Logan. Also surviving are three brothers, David Promenschenkel of Michigan City, Indiana; Ted (Maribeth) Promenschenkel of Streator, Illinois; Stephen Promenschenkel of Normal, Illinois; and one sister, Connie (Russ) Artman of Streator, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Janice Promenschenkel.
A celebration of life will be held in Streator, Illinois on Sunday, August 14th, from 2 to 5pm at the Park Presbyterian Church Hall. A gathering of friends and family will also occur in Indiana at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to a local EMS/Fire Department of the donor's choice.

As the anniversary of Tim´s passing is drawing near, it is still hard not to see him in the yard. I/we miss him terribly but remain blessed to have known him.

Mary, he would be proud of your resilience! I´m sure he´s smiling every time he sees you caring for the chickens!
He´d also be proud of you for all you have done to maintain the homestead and, most of all being the courageous woman you are! We loved Tim and love and support you. May everyone be filled with great memories of Tim.

Mary and family: words are hard to find to adequately express my personal sadness and my condolences to all of you. I know how much Tim loved each of you. He was a loving husband, father and Papa and enjoyed all of you!

It seems our friendship started over chats in the yard and grew over time. Tim was always doing something outside whether it was with the chickens, a project or mowing but he always made time to stop to talk. He shared of himself, his tools, his chickens, canning supplies and anything we might have needed.

I will be forever grateful for the seemingly short time he was our neighbor and friend. Tim was always there for us and selfless with his time. I know we aren´t the only ones that can say that because he always gave of himself to anyone in need.

I cannot imagine the void each of you feel. My hope for you is that his love lives on in your hearts and his lessons and fond memories live on forever.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Jean Lubeckis

Thank you for the memories from St Anthonys to Streator High School and beyond. You were one of the few who visited me up in Wisconsin. God's blessing to the family and RIP Tim. We will see you again.

A lot of fun memories of Tim from the old neighborhood! He was always tinkering with something in his garage. Served him well in his future endeavors. Gone too soon. RIP old friend and neighbor.
