Carroll David "Bo" Wicker, affectionately known to many as "Bo," of Prosperity, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family at the age of 73 on April 26, 2025. Born on May 1, 1951, Bo was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bo proudly served six years in the South Carolina Army National Guard, answering the call to serve his country with dedication and honor.
He worked for many years as a supervisor in the planer mill at Georgia Pacific, where he not only took pride in his work but also in the friendships he built over the decades. He genuinely enjoyed the people he worked alongside and was known for his reliability, work ethic, and good-natured spirit.
An avid outdoorsman, Bo loved nothing more than a day spent hunting in the woods or fishing on the water. His passion for the outdoors was matched only by his enthusiasm for racing. A lifelong fan of NASCAR and the truck series, Bo could often be found watching races and cheering on his favorite drivers. In his younger years, he even got behind the wheel himself, racing on local dirt tracks and making memories that lasted a lifetime.
Bo also gave back to his community by coaching city league youth football. He took great pride in mentoring young athletes and leading his team to a championship with an undefeated season in 1993—a highlight he remembered with joy and pride. He continued to support youth and football throughout his life by working on the chain gang for the Newberry High Bulldogs, showing the same dedication and pride for the team as he had years before.
Bo was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Wicker and Willie Mae Frick Wicker.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn Riley Wicker, and their two sons: Johnny Wicker (Tammy) and Kevin Wicker (Rachel). Bo was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Jacob Wicker and Jesse Wicker, children of Johnny and Tammy; and Abigail Garbett (Rowan), Sarah Wicker, Ruth Wicker, and Adam Wicker, children of Kevin and Rachel. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren: Elianna Garbett and Christopher Garbett.
Bo is also survived by his siblings: Pamela Wicker Barrett (Henry), Sheila Jones (Paul), Melissa Wicker, and David Wicker.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church in Prosperity, South Carolina. Burial will immediately follow the service at the church cemetery. Following the burial, the family will receive friends and loved ones in the church fellowship hall.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Agape Hospice, especially to Shasta and Shanae, for their extraordinary care, compassion, and support during Bo's final days. A special thank you is also extended to "special angel" Kimberly Gonzalez, along with her family, Alonzo, Kayleigh, and Little Hoss, for their love and support during this time.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Wicker, Jacob Wicker, Kevin Wicker, Adam Wicker, Kenneth Bledsoe, SQ "Evans" Johnson, Mike Shealy, and Allen Sligh.
