HALIFAX - Marlin Paul Brubaker Jr. (Bud) entered into Heaven September 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Bud, age 86, was born in Halifax, PA on August 2, 1939. He was the son of Marlin Paul Brubaker Sr. and Ellen (Millard) Brubaker.
Bud was married to Ellen (Sheesley) for 62 years. He was very devoted to his family which included three children: Corinne Dyer, Mike (Kathy), and Mark (Jeanette) Brubaker; eight grandchildren: Michael (Samantha) and Joshua Dyer, Zane, Charis and Adelyn Brubaker, Zowie (Ian) Predmore, Rylie Mentzer and Wyatt Brubaker; five great grandchildren: Kinsley and Kendall Dyer, Knox, Gwenivere and Ronin Predmore; and four sisters: Betty (Frank) Johnson; deceased, Dorothy (Carl) Senior, Shirley (Ken) Calnon, and Jean (Dave) Rode.
Bud was a 1958 graduate of Halifax High School. While in school, he was very active in both FFA and 4-H. Immediately after high school he enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the 26 Infantry Division, Blue Spaders.
A lifelong farmer, Bud was passionate about being a good steward of the land, utilizing several conservation techniques while tending the family farm on which he was born. He also sat on the USDA's Farm Service Agency county committee. Throughout the years, he was employed by Roberts & Meck, L.B. Smith Quaker State Oil, and was a partner in R-Own Dairy, Inc. in Halifax. He was a computer support technician for 33 years, until retiring from the PA Department of Revenue in 1999.
Bud was a lifelong member of Zion Stone United Methodist Church, Halifax, acted in many leadership roles and could always be counted on to lend a hand wherever needed. He enjoyed serving, alongside Ellen, putting his faith in action while working on many mission trips providing disaster relief along the coasts after Hurricanes Floyd and Katrina, as well as relief from the effects of poverty in Kentucky, Birmingham, Eastern NC, and within their local community.
Bud (with Ellen) was a 4-H leader for 42 years, chairing several countywide 4-H committees, sitting on the Penn State Extension Advisory Board. He served on the Gratz Fair Livestock Committee, helped countless youth with their animals, and assisted with show, sale and clean up activities. He volunteered many years at the PA Farm Show where he helped set up displays, sell programs, and man the information desk through the Family Living Committee.
When he wasn't working or serving others, Bud enjoyed farming, traveling, hunting, NASCAR, Penn State and Steeler football, camping, and attending family events. He loved his Fords and his devoted dog, Mickey! His gentle spirit, quiet humor, shy grin and kindness to others will truly be missed!
