null Lassen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wulf-Ast Mortuary & Cremations, LLC - Garden Plain on Feb. 23, 2026.
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Janet "Sue" Lassen(88) and Evan G. Lassen (89) in Wichita, Kansas on February 16th. They were married for 66 years.

They will lovingly be remembered by their children William "Brent" Lassen of Wichita, Kansas, Ann Godfrey (Randy) of Wichita, Kansas and Jill Lyman (Josh) of Overland Park, Kansas, their four grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Evan and Sue were preceded in death by their infant child, Amy Sue Lassen, their parents and siblings.

Evan was born in Wichita, Kansas, December 19, 1936 and was the youngest of five children. His father was killed in a car accident when he was eight years old. He moved to Wichita and graduated from East High in 1955. Evan attended Kansas State University, pledged Sigma Chi Fraternity and met the love of his life, Sue who pledged Alpha Delta Pi. They were married December 27,1959. Sue graduated with a degree in Education. She made sure Evan passed all his classes and got his BS in Business Administration before walking down the aisle. Evan was proud that he served in the Navy reserve during his college years and beyond. Later in life, Evan got his Bachelor

of Science in Addiction Studies graduating Summa Cum Laude from Park College in Parkville, Missouri. Evan had several work endeavors before he discovered his love of being an Independent Petroleum Oil and Gas Landman, following his father's footsteps in the industry. He received "The Landman of the Year" award in 1998 because of his dedication and passion for his work. He loved his children and especially loved being Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandson.

Sue was born in Enid, Oklahoma, on July 13, 1937, the youngest of two girls. After moving many times with her family, they settled in Wichita, Kansas, and graduated from East High in 1955. Sue briefly taught in Wichita until she and Evan had children. She was an excellent homemaker and always put her family first. She loved to cook and always had balanced meals with a variety of menus. Our clothes were lovingly washed and put away. She worked hard to make a beautiful, comfortable home where family and visitors felt welcomed and loved. Many of their children's friends considered Evan and Sue their "other" parents. Later, Sue joined the workforce and worked for "The Childcare Food Program" under the Childcare Association. She retired from there and became very involved with being "Nana." She adored her four grandchildren and her great-grandson.

Evan and Sue were very active in the life of the church. Both were engaged in duties within the church and loved to socialize with their church friends. Evan made sure his family went to church, and they were involved in serving the church in various capacities. They were huge Kansas State Football fans. They had season tickets and followed the team to away games. Sue loved to prepare food for tailgating and would always encourage folks to join them. Bridge was another social activity, and they played with different groups. Both of them were avid readers, and Sue participated in the women's church book club. Evan and Sue always enjoyed each other's company. They adored and respected each other. Each had a wonderful sense of humor that permeated their lives and marriage.
