LITTLETON - Shirley E. (Goodrich) Alo, 82, of 239 Ayer Road Littleton, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, August 30, 2025, at her daughter's home in Littleton, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born in Ayer, September 14, 1942, a daughter of the late George W. and Ellen E. (Carton) Shannon. She grew up an Ayer and graduated from high school in 1960. In her early days she was a certified hairdresser and enjoyed cutting and styling people's hair. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an active member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and enjoyed years of teaching CCD. Later in life Shirley went to work as a receptionist at PennWell Publishing prior to her retiring. For many years she especially liked to entertain her friends and family, poolside, at her home in Littleton. She was lovingly companioned by her two dachshunds, Dulcinea and Della Reese. She also enjoyed frequent travels to the Bahamas and Florida with her family. Her husband, Joseph R. Alo passed away in 2002. She leaves a son, Joseph L. Alo and his wife, Regina L. Alo of Shirley; a daughter, Shannon E. Alo-Mendosa of Littleton; three grandchildren Julia O. Alo, Joseph A. Mendosa and Vito A Mendosa. In addition her parents she was predeceased by her grandparents Joseph F. and Anne M. Carton of Ireland. Shirley's funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 9:00 AM in Blessed Trintiy Parish-St. Anne Church, 75 King St., Littleton followed by a burial in Westlawn Cemetery in Littleton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anne's Catholic Church in Littleton, Massachusetts. The Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Rd., Ayer, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
