Aquila James (Jim) Elwell of Frankford, DE passed away on July 24, 2025 after a short illness. Jim was born on August 23, 1943 to Raymond S. and Margaret S. Elwell. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Raymond P. Elwell. Jim attended Pennsville schools, graduating in 1961 from Pennsville Memorial High School. While at PMHS, Jim played varsity baseball and football for 4 years and was a member of the 1961 NJ state championship football team.

Jim went on to attend Rider (College) University in Lawrenceville, NJ where he received a BS in Business Administration. He also attended Glassboro State College, now Rowen University, where he earned his education certifications. His teaching career spanned 35 years, 18 years at Woodstown High School in Woodstown, NJ where he taught social business courses and 17 years at Lenape High School in Medford, NJ where he taught social sciences courses (history) before retiring to Delaware in 2010. He also coached baseball and football at both schools.

Jim loved sitting on the beach and traveling. His travels took he and his wife to many islands in the Caribbean, Europe, Russia and numerous destinations in the US. He was a baseball and football enthusiast; playing both sports throughout his youth and adult life. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan and enjoyed attending their games with his sons.

Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rosemarie (Seminara) and two sons, Michael R. and his wife Roseann of Lindenhurst, NY and Timothy J. of Carneys Point, NJ and two grandchildren, Victoria R. Elwell and Christopher J. Elwell of Lindenhurst, NY.

Services will be held on August 8, 2025 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, DE 19930. Visitation will be held at 10 am with Mass to follow at 11 am.
