A. Hinkell Obituary
1928 - 2013 NORTH ADAMS A. Harvey Hinkell, 85, of 100 Walker St., died Wednesday Aug. 28, 2013 after a brief illness, with his family at his side. Born in North Adams on Jan. 11, 1928, son of John P. and Ada (LaChappelle) Hinkell, he attended the Notre Dame Parochial School. Harvey was a veteran of World War II and served in the US Merchant Marine. He was employed by the city of North Adams for over 40 years retiring as the superintendent of the highway department. Harvey was a member of the North Adams Elks. He was also a member of the North Adams American Legion, VFW and the AmVets. He enjoyed rabbit hunting. His wife, Viola (Davis) Hinkell died Sept. 10, 2000. Survivors include nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, including John P. Hinkell of North Adams; Tim Hinkell of Greenfield; Marcella Hinkell of Raymond, Maine; and Patrick Hinkell of Sterling; Johno Hinkell, Kendra Hinkell, and Connor Hinkell, all of North Adams, and Alexis Rose Hinkell of Adams. His grandnephew, Damien Hinkell, died July 16, 2013. Two brothers and one sister are also deceased, Marcel Edgar Hinkell, Paul Hinkell, and Lucille Hinkell. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for A. Harvey Hinkell will be Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at 7 p.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. Burial will be at a later date in Southview Cemetery.
