A.J. was born to Ray and Bessie Vaughn on July 28, 1941. He attended school at Maxwell Academy in Surgoinsville. He restored classic cars. He enjoyed spending time with Jackson, Rheagan, and Rhiley Vaughn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Bessie Vaughn; sons, A.J. Vaughn Jr. and Dennis Ray Vaughn; grandson, A.J. Vaughn III; sisters, Ruby Harmon, Grace Christian, Jesse Clark; brother, Herbert Vaughn.
He is survived by his children, Loretta (Don) Greer, Kimberly Seal, Jeremy (Rachel) Vaughn, Dwayne (Rebecca) Vaughn; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Charles Templeton.
The family of A.J. Vaughn wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors/nurses of the 500 floor at Holston Rehab and also to Select Specialty at Bristol Regional.
Graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 11:00 am in Highland Cemetery with Rev. Elser Bailey officiating. Anyone wishing to attend the service is asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 am.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Vaughn, Jeremy Vaughn, Dwayne Vaughn Jr., Ethan Manis, Dylan Seal, and Cory Seal. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Greer and Josh Koger.
