Earl worked for many years at the Hawkins County Farmer's CO-OP delivering feed and fertilizer until his health wouldn't let him. He didn't let that keep him down though. It was then that he got saved and gave his life to Christ. He started and built a business from scratch doing all sorts of work with his tractor, equipment, and dump truck. He resided at and watched over the property at the CO-OP. You could often see him mowing or on the dock talking to everyone he knew and didn't know. He was known and loved by people all over Hawkins County and never met a stranger
Waiting by the river for him is his loving wife of 59 years, Virginia "Jenny" Fields; parents, Willie and Elizabeth Fields; sisters, Mary Helton, Betty Carmack, Ethel Jetter, Elsie Stapleton; brothers, Homer Fields, Rob Fields, June Fields, Grady Fields, Jack Fields, and Kenneth Fields.
He is survived by his only son, Tim (Denise) Fields; grandchildren, Nichole Fields, Cody Fields, and Caleb (Brittany) Fields; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn (Trenton) Williams, Caylee Hurley, Ty (Alexus Wallen) Willis, Landon Yount, Indiee Fields, and Grayson Harrell; brothers, Raymond (Judy) Fields, Archie (Rita) Fields; special friends, Scott Barrett, Bud Greer, and Randall Helton; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family of Earl wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Amanda and Megan with Amedysis Hospice for their loving care over the last few weeks.
Visitation hours will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Christian-Sells Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 13, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jody Davis officiating and music by Nichole Fields and Sam Thomason. Graveside service will follow in Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Cody Fields, Caleb Fields, Ty Willis, Dawson Fields, Scott Barrett, and Jason Helton.
