Aaron Michael Aure, 51, of Maplewood, Missouri passed away on May 6, 2023. He was born on October 24, 1971, in Iowa City, Iowa and brought home to Bode, Iowa to his loving parents: Ron & Pat Aure on October 29, 1971.
Aaron was one of a kind, with a quick wit and a determined, strong-willed, and intelligent personality. He had a library full of knowledge and was stubborn in his beliefs. Wrestling was his passion, and he excelled in it in high school and at the University of Iowa. He continued to follow and coach his boys in the sport throughout the years.
Aaron was a 1990 graduate of Twin Rivers High School, Bode, Iowa and served in the Iowa National Guard. He worked in the Registrar's office at various universities including Colorado State University at Fort Collins; Al Akhawayn University - Morocco, North Africa; Lees-McRae College - Banner Elk, NC; University of Central Florida – Orlando; South Dakota State University – Brookings; and University of Wisconsin – Stout, Menomonie, WI.
Aaron received a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Iowa, a Master's degree in College Student Counseling & Personnel Services from the University of Northern Colorado, and a Doctor of Philosophy, PhD in Industrial & Organized Psychology from Colorado State University.
He was joined in marriage to Stephanie Perkins in 1995 and they had two sons: Kellan (18) and Aidan (14). That marriage was later dissolved.
Aaron is survived by his sons, Kellan Aure and Aidan Aure of Menomonie, WI; his mother, Pat Joiner (Larry) of Cresco, Iowa; stepmother, Marcia Aure, of Maplewood, MO; biological mother, Becky Ness (Craig) of Faith, South Dakota; sister, Michelle McKenna (Brad Duffy) Humboldt, IA; niece, Brooke Ullom (Kyle) Denver, IA; & nephew, Zach McKenna of Humboldt, IA; and step / half siblings (Tonya Cort, Taedra Hickam, Tess Duffey, Chris Miller, Jeff Joiner, Michon Ness, & Monique Ness) many step nieces & nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father Ron Aure and stepbrother Todd Bradley.
A Memorial Visitation for Aaron will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Olson Funeral Home, 615 Wilson Ave, Menomonie, Wisconsin 54751. In honor of Aaron, please wear your favorite wrestling team attire.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023, from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. at the River Valley Orchards & Winery, 1645 220th St, Humboldt, IA 50548. A short program will be held at 1:30 pm and Aaron will be laid to rest at the St Olaf Lutheran Cemetery, Bode, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at Green State Credit Union, 930 Tower Park Dr, Waterloo, Iowa 50701 under the account name, "Aaron Aure Memorial Fund". All memorials will be given to Aaron's sons, Kellan and Aidan.
Rest in peace, Aaron, you will be missed by all who knew and loved you.
