Aaron R. Gulick, 54, passed away on March 1, 2025, from complications of Machado-Joseph disease. Born on November 3, 1970, in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Aaron was the eldest of three children born to John and Dorothy Gulick. He grew up in Shawnee and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1989.

A talented auto mechanic, Aaron spent much of his career working with his hands, not only in his profession but also in his many hobbies. He had a passion for craftsmanship, enjoying leatherworking and woodworking, always creating something new. He also loved fireworks, a passion that brought him great joy throughout his life.

Aaron married Staci Marler in 1994, and they spent 25 years together. They welcomed their son, Jonathan, in 1997. Aaron was a devoted father, cherishing the time spent with Jonathan throughout his life.

A man of strong values and camaraderie, Aaron became a Mason and later joined the Abdallah Shriners in Overland Park. He was an active member of the Yo-Shi (Young Shriners) and the Pipes and Drums unit, where his love for Scottish heritage and music flourished. He also enjoyed attending the Highland Games, where he found great joy in the traditions and competitions.

Aaron shared an unbreakable bond with a core group of childhood friends—Nick Turner, Loren Zody, David Harrington, Shannon Sweany, and Jim Pyle, who preceded him in death in 2010. Their friendship spanned decades, built on laughter, adventures, and an enduring brotherhood that remained strong throughout their lives.

Aaron’s love for animals was evident in his volunteer work at the Parkville Animal Shelter, where he dedicated his time to caring for those in need. Many of his beloved pets were adopted from Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter, filling his life with companionship and unconditional love.

For the past six years, Aaron resided at Louisburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Louisburg, Kansas, where he faced his illness with strength and resilience.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Gulick. He is survived by his son, Jonathan Gulick; his mother, Dorothy Gulick; his sister, Brenda Gulick; and his brother, Carl Gulick.

A Celebration of Life will be held starting at 5:00 pm, Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Abdallah Shriners Temple, 5300 Metcalf Ave, Mission, Kansas 66202.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Ataxia Foundation or Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter in Aaron’s honor.
