Aaron Kenneth Jenkins

Funeral services for Mr. Aaron Kenneth Jenkins will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Big Hammock Baptist Church, Leander, with Reverends Mickey Christy and Benji Rhame officiating. Interment will follow in Smith Cemetery, Hineston, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Aaron Kenneth Jenkins was born on October 14, 1942, to the union of Ozia and Emma Jenkins. He passed from this life on August 8, 2025, at his home in Hineston, Louisiana.

Aaron attended Buckeye High School, then entered the U.S. Navy in 1962. He served from 1962 to 1964 during the Vietnam War and was stationed aboard the USS Constellation. In 1965, after being discharged from the Navy, he met and married his lifelong love, Roberta Anne Hubbard Jenkins, and moved back to Central Louisiana. He was an avid horseman, hunter, and fisherman. For many years, he could be found on the porch of Jenkins Feed & Seed, fixing saddles and telling stories about all his adventures. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ozia Jenkins; his mother, Emma Day Jenkins Lang; one sister, Daisy Jenkins Edwards; and one great-granddaughter, Katherine Olivia Thiels.

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his devoted wife of sixty years, Roberta "Bobbie" Anne Jenkins of Hineston; one son, Cody Wayne Jenkins (Tammy) of Hineston; three daughters, Kellie Jenkins Christy (Mickey) of Elmer, Angela Gay Jenkins of Lewiston, Idaho, and Jeanette Jenkins Thacker (Kurt) of Hineston; one sister, Mae Nell Jenkins Wiggins of Alexandria; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren, each of whom carry forward his memory with love and pride.

A time of visitation will be held at Big Hammock Baptist Church, Leander, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, beginning at 5:00 p.m. and will remain open until time of service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Marc Welch, Colby Jenkins, Matthew Christy, Chase Kingan, Kurt Thacker, Derrick Rachal, Jackson Christy, and John Meylian.

Words cannot express our gratitude to Compassionate Care Hospice. His nurse, Toni Emmons, was considered by him and the entire family to be another granddaughter. Also, Star Smith (our diesel mechanic) was a close family friend long before becoming his care aid. These two ladies greatly enriched his life, and our family is forever grateful for their true love for him.
