On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, Bill Gene Hilton, 90 years old, of LaCamp, LA achieved his lifelong goal… he went to meet Jesus! He was at home surrounded by friends.

Bill was born to Henry Alan Hilton and Lessie Braddy Hilton in Hineston, LA on January 26, 1935. He was the youngest of 5 children and a twin to Kathleen Hilton Newman. He was born with a love for the outdoors to include hunting, fishing and gardening. He attended Oak Hill School and joined the Louisiana National Guard and then the Navy. He served as a sheet metal worker at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii. When he got out of the service, he came home to marry the love of his life, Beth. They were married 59 years. He was a carpenter for years and then went to work for and retired from the La State Agriculture Department. He was a Supervisor for Meat Inspection-Compliance. If you knew Bill, you knew hunting or gardening. He shared his love of the outdoors with many and even influenced a few careers. He twice had the World Champion dogs (coon and squirrel). He did not know how to do things on a small scale so there was always a 6-12 acres garden. He sold many vegetables to the community and probably gave away just as many to the widows, poor and needy families. He was renowed for his 50+ pound watermelons and purple hull peas.

He was a Christian and served in several churches. He loved the Lord and made a point to witness and share to all. He will be missed by many!

Bill was preceded in death by the love of his life, J Elizabeth "Beth" Barge Hilton; son, Jody Alan Hilton; grandson, Toby Kendall Hilton; parents, Henry and Lessie Hilton; siblings, Glynwith H McHenry, Middleton Hilton, Autrey Hilton, and twin sister Kathleen Hilton Newman. Also, brothers-in-law, Glynn Barge and Don Barge (best friend) and sister-in-law, Evelyn B Taylor.

Those left to mourn him are his wife's children by her first marriage, son, Billy A "Tony" Hilton and daughter, Jill Hilton; grandchildren, Billy A "TJ" Hilton (Maria), David J "DJ" Dodd, and Dr. Kellie Hilton-Simpson (Josh); great grandchildren, Kinzley, Brayden, Eastyn, Eli, Rae-Lauren, Desiree, Destiny, Audree, and Alexis, as well as brother and sister in-law, many nephews and nieces, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

A special thanks to Kim Watson and David and Tammy Smith for caring for him.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to LaCamp Church of God, Tell the world about Jesus!

Funeral services for Bill will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Lacamp Church of God with Reverends Shawn Waggoner and Tim Norris officiating.
