Aaron "Jason" Young, age 53, of Velma, Oklahoma, passed away on December 21, 2025, in Oklahoma City. He was born on October 21, 1972, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Mr. George Merle Young and Mrs. Mary Beth (Layn) McGuire.
Jason was raised in Velma, where he graduated from Velma-Alma School before furthering his education at Cameron University for one year. For most of his career, he worked in the oilfield industry. Jason had a passion for outdoor activities, including fishing and deer hunting. Additionally, he enjoyed golfing, and even after facing challenges with his eyesight, he cherished spending time and conversing with friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, George; his grandparents, J.W. Layn and Peggy Nye, and Woodrow and Marie Young; Kay Stephens; and his stepfather, Bill McGuire.
Jason is survived by his mother, Mary Beth McGuire of Velma; his brothers, Merle Brant Young of Lexington, Alan McGuire and wife Michelle of Lone Grove, and Andy McGuire and wife Holly of Velma; his aunt Wilma Hatley and husband Larry of Edmond; his uncle, James Layn of Velma; nephews, Jake McGuire and wife Lacy and Andrew McGuire and wife Alexis; nieces, Savannah, Kennedy, Daylee, Olivia, Sarah, and Kaitlyn; great nieces, Violet, Lyla, and Lettie; great nephews, Dawson, Abbott, and Rowan; along with a multitude of other family members and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Countyline Baptist Church, with Rev. Jamie Griffin officiating and Chris Elledge assisting. The services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First National Bank in Velma in memory of Jason.
