Denver City, Texas — Abel Gonzalez passed away on January 31, 2026, in Lubbock. He was 65 years old. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at St. William Catholic Church, with Father Raymundo Manriquez officiating.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Rosary will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the Vercelli Center.
Abel was born in El Campo, Texas, on July 21, 1960, to Ignacio and Apolonia Gonzalez. On March 31, 1979, he married the love of his life, Yolanda, in Slaton, Texas. In the 47 years together Abel and Yolanda, built a beautiful life and family. He was a member of St. William Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, he loved riding his Harley, and he was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and was great with his dad jokes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio and Apolonia Gonzalez: his siblings, Angelita Vasquez and Joe Gonzalez.
Left behind to cherish his memory are, his wife, Yolanda Gonzalez; his children, Christopher Abel Gonzalez, and wife Lisa of Lubbock, Isaac Jon Gonzalez of Denver City, Ashley Nicole Lopez, and husband, Joe of San Antonio, Krystal Shari’ Moreno of Lubbock, Kimberly Renee Gonzalez of Lubbock, and Kailey Renee Vasquez of Lubbock; his grandkids, Madison Rayne Moreno, Noah Ysrael Abel Moreno, Malia Caiden Gonzalez, Ethan Michael Lopez, Lukas Joel Lopez, Emrie Bri’Elle Williams, Kielan Marcellus Williams; his surviving siblings, Roman Gonzalez, Juan Gonzalez, Isaac Gonzalez, Arnulfo Gonzalez, Mary Rodriguez, Elida Martinez, Irma Valdez, Gloria Gonzalez, Patricia Bela, Florinda Alvarado, and Rosa Martinez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
