Abeline “Brownie” Brown, age 88 of Williamsport, IN, passed away at 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Abeline was born on February 13, 1936 in Rockville, IN. He was the son of Marvin and Wannetah (Riddel) Brown. Abeline was raised in Parke County and has resided in Williamsport since 1966. He was a 1955 graduate of Tangier High School. Abeline married Sarah Ann Crum on July 7, 1956 at the Fairview Church and she survives.
Abeline worked at Harrison Steel Casting Company in Attica. He later worked as a car salesman for Pritcher-Scott Chevrolet-Buick, later Bryant Chevrolet, in Attica for over 38 years.
Abeline was a member of Williamsport United Methodist. He was a member of Barber Shop Quartet, past member of the Williamsport Lion’s Club, and previously served on the Williamsport Town Board. Abeline enjoyed watching Nascar races, especially his favorite driver Jimmy Johnson.
Surviving with his wife, Sarah, are:
3 children, Cindy Shuee of Lafayette, IN, Jeffery Allen Brown (Pauline) of Williamsport, IN, and Devin Brown of Williamsport, IN;
1 brother, John Brown of Jacksonville, FL;
2 sisters, Eunice Williford of Danville, IL and Carroll Reynolds of Brownsburg, IN;
5 grandchildren, Dusty Brown, Brett Brown, Michael Brown, Jacob Brown, and William Brown;
3 great-grandchildren, Abby Brown, Eli Brown, and McKenzie Brown
Abeline was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Junior Brown, Barbara Garrett, Everett Brown, Charles Brown, and Donald Brown; and grandson Joshua Taylor Shuee.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Friday, April 12, 2024 from noon until funeral service time at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles B. Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Williamsport.
