Abraham M. Goller passed away in his sleep in the morning of Monday, June 23rd, 2025, at the age of 100 and almost 4 months. He survived by his three children: Stuart, Jeffrey, and Michael, and grandchildren Josh, JJ (Tasha), Nathan and Sophie.
Born in Lexington, Kentucky the son of Rabbi Harry and Sarah Goller, Jewish immigrants from Lithuania, he grew up the youngest of five siblings (Lena, Sam, Jake, Bessie) above the Deli store which his family owned and his father operated when not busy with synagogue business. He was drafted at age 18 in 1943 during the Second World War into the US 100th infantry division as a combat infantryman, and trained as a sharpshooter. He served during the invasion of France and the Rhineland campaign during which he was wounded by Nazi artillery and awarded the Purple Heart. He later served during the occupation of Germany.
Returning to the United States, he graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in civil engineering. He moved to Cincinnati and worked for 18 years at Pollock Steel, later founding his own business, Lannis Fence Company in Blue Ash, which he had for nearly two decades.
He met his wife, Ruth, a few years after moving to Cincinnati, at an event of a Jewish singles group of which he was the president. Ruth's beloved grandfather Max Waldman had recently passed and her brother Bert convinced her to attend the party to try to lift her spirits. The two spent 66 happy years married to one another until she passed away in 2020.
Abe was always calm, good-natured, humorous, down-to-earth, and generous. The most important thing in his life was his family, for which he would do anything. He and Ruth were a matched set, and the two were always together. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. May his memory be for a blessing.
