Abraham Rubinstein, 96 years old, of Freehold, NJ, passed away on October 11, 2025. "Abe" was born in New York City on April 19, 1929, son of Sol and Blanche Rubinstein. Abe graduated from the NY High School of Music and Art and spent time in the National Guard. Abe married Carol J. Singer on February 28, 1953.
Abraham was a hard working businessperson, at one point owning several retail stores. The first was known as Abe's Linoleum in the Bronx, opened when he was only 24 years old. He later opened Mister Paints in Paramus, moving his family with him. Mister Paints operated for nearly 30 years, with Carol lending her interior decorating expertise. Customers and vendors were drawn to Abe for his helpful, honest and fair character.
Friends and family loved Abe for his easy going, kind, generous and caring personality; he was a man who would give the shirt off his back for you. Abe enjoyed singing and had an interest in archaeology.
Abe is survived by his wife of 72 years, Carol. J. Rubinstein, their two sons and spouses, Ronald L. Rubinstein and Karen (Freehold, NJ) and Mitchell L. Rubinstein and Gayle (Robbinsville, NJ.). Abe has four grandchildren, Jason, Adam, Arielle and Jordan, and nieces and nephews, all of whom survive him. Abraham was predeceased by his brother Sidney and his parents.
Abe was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Donations to Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org are welcomed.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025, at 12:00PM at Beth El Cemetery, Paramus. For directions or to leave a condolence, please visit www.freemanfuneralhomes.com.
