We have lost the matriarch of our family with the passing of Achsa Pettett Rollins on August 12, 2025 at McCalls Hospice House surrounded by the love of her family.
Achsa and her late husband Don, the love of her life, were original charter members of Overbrook Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many many years. She was also past President of the Christian Women's Club, the Dellwood Club and the PTA at Wade Hampton High School.
She is survived by her three sons: Don Jr. (Nadine), Robin (Rene) and Tim (Kim), her grandchildren Jennifer Messervy (Ward), Nathan Rollins (Brittany), Kendall Newton (Weston), and Mary Katherine Rollins-Einhorn (Lukas) and great grandchildren Ayden Tilley, Hannah Tilley (Sam Braverman), Emma Messervy, Rileigh Messervy, Laken Rollins, Birdie Rollins, Peyton Best, Hunter Newton and Rowan Rollins-Einhorn, as well as a great great granddaughter Ivy Messervy.
She was predeceased by a grandson Jeff Tilley, as well as her parents Hass and Elizabeth Thompson and Carrie and John Pettett who raised her as a child.
Achsa was the last surviving member of her immediate family but has many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who she loved very much. She is also survived by her caregivers Lydia Bailey, along with Leigh Mizell.
The funeral service will be held at her beloved Overbrook Baptist Church on Sunday, August 17 at 2:00, with a visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to Donations for Bibles to honor Achsa Rollins Bible League, or Donations can be made to Overbrook Baptist Church.
The family will be at 115 Paddock Drive.
