Ada Opal Harris, 90, of Moulton, passed away Friday, December 27, 2024 at Hendrix Health and Rehab in Double Springs. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Jack Harris and Rev. Jerry Strickland officiating. Burial will be at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born on October 7, 1934 in Moulton to the late William and Annie Heaps Mills, Opal was a very devoted member of Chalybeate Springs Baptist Church where she loved to sing in the choir. She loved her Lord Jesus more than anything but also enjoyed playing ball with her grand kids and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her sons, Joey (Paula) Harris, and Jackie (Cynthia) Harris; grandchildren, Jackie Edward (Hope) Harris, Kristy (Shannon Reed) Harris, Mandy (Steve) Robinson, Jonah (Tanya) Harris, and Joseph (Kendall Brown) Harris; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband, George Harris; son, Jerome Harris; daughter, Annie Patricia Harris; parents; sisters, Lila Mae Vandiver, Mary Belle Henson, Addie Strickland, Velma Beene, and Helen Savage; and brother, Roy Mills.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Reed, Mark Strickland, Steve Robinson, Jonah Harris, Joseph Harris.
The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff at Hendrix Health and Rehab.
