Ada Pogue Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fairmount Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematory on Jan. 29, 2026.
Ada Mae Blanks was the first born to George and Althea Blanks, at Fort Riley, Kansas, on January 25, 1930.

Her mother passed while Ada and her sister Irene were very young. Their father was a soldier in the United States Calvary. Their maternal grandmother, Alberta Woods (Aunt Jack), relocated the girls with her to Denver, Colorado. Ada was a graduate of Manuel High School, where excelled in track. Later returning to Kansas to attend Kansas State University. Ada's scope of studies is unknown, however, she was a committed student of the Bible all of her adult life, infusing that passion into her seven children.

Ada was also an avid reader of the daily newspaper front to back. She became an active member of Kinship Baptist Church, was guest speaker to Christian women's groups and had a singing voice that could keep your attention. Ada was known for her love of family, her quick wit, and at times known as "stubborn"or "contrary".

She was kind, thoughtful, engaging and committed to God and family.

Ada was the proud mother of six boys and one girl: Dennis (Marye) Irvin, Raleigh (Kay) Dyson, Stephen (Reatha) Dyson, Sr., Keith Dyson, Lloyd (Frankie) Dyson, Sandra Teague, and Leonard (Dianna) Teague,Jr.

Ada leaves to cherish their memories of, and with her, twenty grandchildren (not in birth order): Ivy Irvin Clemens, Delmos Irvin, Chaunsley Dyson, Zina Rolette Dyson, Chris Dyson, Jerome Dyson, Stephen Dyson, Jr. Jubal Dyson-Vafedes, LaNiece Dyson-Darby,Casey Irvin, Adenjha Aku Irvin, Lloyd Dyson, Jr., Troy Dyson, Bryson Lee,

Ada loved to dance, now she is dancing with THE HEAVENLY HOST.

Rest well Mama, Mama Pogue, Granny, Miss P, and GG. "WE LOVE YOU"
