Ada Virginia (Bucy) Storm, 100, passed away on October 30, 2025. She was the wife of the late Richard Guay Storm. She lived at Brooksby Village in Peabody for the past 22 years having moved from Yardley, Pennsylvania in 2003.
Born in Bellevue outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 16, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Ada (Hoobler) Bucy. She was raised and educated in Bellevue and graduated from Avalon High School, the salutatorian of her high school class. She received her bachelor's degree from the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She lived in Yardley, Pennsylvania, Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Peabody, Massachusetts. Ada had a long career as a secretary for different organizations in Pennsylvania and Ohio, and a teacher at Kenston High School in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
Ada was active in the First Presbyterian Church in Morrisville, Pennsylvania. She was a member of their handbell choir, which traveled professionally and made recordings. She was an ardent crafts person – enjoying stained glass arts, sewing, crafting, painting, gardening and flower arranging. She won many floral design contests with the Martha Washington Garden Club in Pennsylvania. She played bridge regularly with her friends in Yardley and later at Brooksby Village.
Ada was predeceased by her son, Richard Guay Storm, Jr, and daughter-in-law, Judith Ann Miedema of Ohio. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Candace and Andrew Martinez of Wenham, Massachusetts; her son Paul "Jay" Storm of Canton, Georgia; her sister, Eleanor Pavlik of Steubenville, Ohio; her granddaughter Maia Nichole Storm of Savannah, Georgia; and four nieces and nephews, Albert Pavlik, Virginia Exley, Charles Pavlik and Carol Fisher. The Martinez – Torre family is a loving extension of son-in-law Andrew.
She had many friends at Brooksby Village including the Penthouse Angels and her Bridge Club friends. Her care givers (Lori, Ana, Jessie, Nadine, Amy and Laurie) were attentive and loving in her last months of life.
Her celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at 2PM in the Brooksby Village Chapel, Brooksby Village Dr, Peabody, MA, 01960. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ada's name to Kaplan Family Hospice House, 75 Sylvan St, Danvers, MA, 01923 or the Brooksby Village Benevolent Fund.
