Adam R. Bahnsen, 43, of
Oak Harbor, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Born on May 6, 1981, in
Toledo, Ohio, he was the beloved son of Randy and Sue (Fehlhaber) Bahnsen.
Adam was known for his strong work ethic and his natural ability to excel at whatever he put his mind to. He began working during high school, unloading trucks late at night for McDonald's, and later spent several years at Adfilm in Oak Harbor, where he also played on the company's softball team. For the past several years, he was employed as a welder at Northern Manufacturing in Oak Harbor. Remarkably ambidextrous, Adam could weld proficiently with both hands-a testament to his skill and dedication.
To his family and friends, Adam was the go-to guy-reliable, resourceful, and always ready to lend a hand. He had a natural talent for fixing things, often researching until he mastered something new. He served as an unofficial mechanic to many, using his gifts to help others without hesitation.
Adam had a deep and unwavering love for his family. He was a compassionate soul who was quick to help anyone facing hard times. He shared a devoted partnership with his late longtime companion, Ryen Kanary, and was a proud and loving father to their son, Jaxon. Together, he and Jaxon bonded over their shared love of music, spending countless hours exploring record shops and collecting vinyl.
Adam was truly one of a kind-a man you don't meet twice in a lifetime. Music ran through his veins, shaping his life and bringing him joy. He never missed a chance to attend a concert with his son or friends, and he loved sharing favorite songs or strumming on his guitar. He found rhythm not only in melodies but in the roar of engines and the laughter shared with loved ones.
A gifted fabricator, Adam built both large structures and intricate works of art, taking pride in every detail. He tended lovingly to his roses, and cherished time spent working on cars and bikes. His attention to craftsmanship reflected the same care he gave to the people in his life.
Above all else, Adam loved without condition. He gave freely-of his time, his talents, and his heart. Known for his generous spirit and unmistakable voice, Adam had the gift of conversation. He could turn the simplest chat into a story worth hearing. His presence was as bold as it was kind, and his absence will be deeply and widely felt.
Adam is survived by his son, Jaxon Kanary, parents, Randy and Sue Bahnsen, sister, Jena Bahnsen, and step-mother-in-law, Regina Kanary. He was preceded in death by his significant other, Ryen Kanary and step-father-in-law, Dennis Kanary.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St.,
Oak Harbor, OH. A time of shared memories and informal words of encouragement and support will follow at 4:00 p.m.
