Adam Timothy O'Kelley
December 7, 1977 – August 5, 2025
Adam Timothy O'Kelley, 47, of Spring, Texas, passed peacefully into the presence of his Savior on August 5, 2025. Born December 7, 1977, in Houston, Texas, Adam lived a bold, joyful, and purpose-filled life - the kind that left people better than he found them.
From an early age, Adam had a drive to excel in everything he did. He was a standout athlete, recognized as one of the top high school kickers and punters in Texas during the 1990s, playing for the Mighty Fightin' Atlanta Rabbits - and would've made it to the NFL if college coaches had eyes as good as his leg. His drive and determination earned him the nickname "Chief" from his teammates. He was also nicknamed "20 questions" but that isn't as endearing and not good obituary material.
He also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, a testament to his discipline, leadership, and commitment to serving others - all qualities that defined him throughout his life. After graduating from Atlanta High School in Atlanta, Texas, Adam then attended and graduated from Texas A&M University, remaining a proud Aggie for life.
After college, Adam followed his love of golf to Whispering Pines Golf Club - the #1 ranked golf course in Texas - where he worked as a golf pro. It was there that he met the love of his life, Amanda. After a period of what he might describe as "persistent charm and strategic wooing," he convinced her to marry him. Theirs was a beautiful marriage - a reflection of their deep love for one another and the love of Christ that anchored their relationship.
While golfing all day was fun, the pay wasn't exactly championship-level - so Adam did what he always did: set his mind to something new and excelled. He went on to build a highly successful career as a Vice President Financial Consultant for Fidelity, where his wisdom, integrity, and calm presence helped countless people plan for the future - and not just financially. He had a rare gift for walking people through life's biggest decisions with clarity, kindness, grace, and humor.
But more than any title or accomplishment, Adam was a man of deep and unshakable faith. He loved Jesus with all his heart and made it his life's mission to share that love with others - not just through words, but through the way he lived. His faith wasn't performative or polished - it was real, rooted, and contagious. Whether through a conversation, an act of kindness, or a well-timed joke, Adam helped people feel seen, known, and loved by Christ.
Adam is survived by his beloved wife, Amanda O'Kelley; his son, Aidan O'Kelley; and his daughter, Addison O'Kelley - his greatest joys and proudest accomplishments. He is also survived by his mother, Kathy O'Kelley; his father and stepmother, Dr. Tim and Susy O'Kelley; his brothers, Dr. Aaron O'Kelley and his wife Joni, and Dr. Andrew O'Kelley and his wife Cortney; his sister, Lauralee O'Kelley; and a lively and loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, and in-laws - most of whom would agree he was the funniest O'Kelley (and all of whom he loved deeply).
Adam's legacy is one of unwavering faith, quiet courage, open-handed generosity, and infectious laughter. He lived fully, loved deeply, and left an indelible mark on every life he touched. Though his absence is deeply felt and will continue to be for decades to come, the impact of his life echoes on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Now, his faith has become sight. And if he could speak to us today, he would urge us - with that familiar mix of sincerity and a smile - to stay rooted in Christ, just as Colossians 2:6–7 reminds us: "Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving."
May we honor Adam by walking in that truth, deeply rooted and always thankful.
A service celebrating Adam's life will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Faithbridge, 18000 Stuebner Airline Rd, Spring, TX 77379. As a tribute to Adam, it is encouraged but not required that you wear golf attire.
