Adan Castro Torres, a longtime resident of
Altus, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 76.
Adan was born on August 27, 1949, in Cervantes, Mexico, to Santos Castro and Celerina Torres. Raised in a small farming community five hours south of the Texas border, Adan learned early that hard work and responsibility were not choices, but a way of life. Baptized in the local Catholic church and educated in his hometown, he grew up grounded in faith, humility, and an unwavering commitment to family. The fifth of fourteen children born into the Castro Torres family, Adan spent his youth working the land farming tomatoes, chiles, and corn developing the strength, discipline, and perseverance that defined him throughout his life.
In Cervantes, Adan met the love of his life, Elsa Briones. Their bond grew through school days and simple moments around town, and they were united in marriage in 1983. Driven by a deep desire to provide a better life for his family, Adan made the courageous decision in 1985 to move to the United States. He settled in
Altus, Oklahoma, where family awaited him, and without hesitation returned to farm work laboring faithfully and tirelessly to ensure his family was cared for. He was a long standing and faithful employee of Nichols Farms. Providing for his loved ones was his greatest responsibility and his proudest purpose.
Adan was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose life revolved around his family. He was preceded in death by his son, Jesus Castro. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Elsa Castro; his children Sandra Castro, Olga Castro, Mariana Gonzalez, Jorge Monterrubio, Fabian Monterrubio, and Fernando Briones. Adan took immense pride in his fourteen grandchildren, who were the heart of his world and the reward for a lifetime of sacrifice and devotion.
Known for his strong work ethic and generous spirit, Adan never hesitated to help others. Even in his quieter moments, his sense of responsibility never faded-checking on his cattle, staying busy, and remaining engaged with the world around him. He found joy in classic western movies, wrestling especially WWE and Lucha Libre and most of all, cooking for his family. Grilling steaks and gathering loved ones together were simple joys that meant everything to him.
Adan Castro Torres will be remembered as a man of strength, integrity, and unwavering dedication a provider who worked tirelessly, loved deeply, and gave selflessly. His legacy lives on through his family, whose lives stand as a testament to his sacrifices, his love, and his enduring example.
