Rev. Addisalem T. Mekonnen

Rev. Addisalem T. Mekonnen, 42, of Philadelphia, PA passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024.
Father Mekonnen was the loving son of Teshager and Tsadu (nee Abai) Mekonnen and born in Ethiopia. He attended Saint Francis de Sales Elementary school and Parkway Gamma
High School.
Father Mekonnen entered Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Overbrook in September 2007 to begin his studies for the Catholic priesthood. Father was ordained a priest by the Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap in May 2015. Father served as Parochial Vicar of Nativity of our Lord Parish, Warminster, Saint Anselm Parish, Philadelphia, and Saint Martin de Porres Parish, Philadelphia. Most recently Father Mekonnen, served as the Pastor of Saint Martin de Porres Parish, Philadelphia since July 2020. Father was also the dedicated Archdiocesan Spiritual Director of the Legion of Mary.
Beloved son of Teshager and Tsadu Mekonnen; Loving brother of Tesfay Mekonnen, Eskiar Mekonnen, Eyob Mekonnen, Solomon (Rutha) Mekonnen, Semere (Ivorie) Mekonnen and Daniel Amalak. Devoted Uncle to Nyla Mekonnen, Lydia Mekonnen, Layla Mekonnen, Zala Mekonnen, Freweny Gebrekidan, Minase Mekonnen, Bana Mekonnen, Ezana Mekonnen, Bazen Mekonnen, Haile Mekonnen and Kidane Mekonnen. He is predeceased by his relatives who passed on before him.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing, Friday, December 27, 2024 8:30AM St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4625 Springfield Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19143 and to his Funeral Mass 10:30AM in the church. Int. SS Peter Paul Cemetery.
