Adelaide M. Coyle, formerly of Wissahickon, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Meadowview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lafayette Hill. She was 93 years old. Adelaide was born in Philadelphia on May 24, 1932 to the late Joseph Marshall and Adelaide (née Kelly) Jefferys. She was the wife to the late John G. Coyle, Sr. who passed away in 2015.
Adelaide attended Holy Family School. She grew up in Roxborough, Parker Ave house & working at Jeffery's family business. Her brothers & sisters would love to tell story's about working in the dinette at the service station.
Adelaide married John Coyle Sr Sept 27th 1955 raising their family in the Wissahickon section of Roxborough.
Our Dearest Adelaide enjoyed coffee time with her neighborhood friends around the kitchen table. Everyone loved her world famous double-decker 6 egg chocolate cake. Adelaide cherished spending time with her grandchildren,she made each one feel special in their own little way, being a Cheerios kid or a special treat or a pickle party. Everyone loved having pickled eggs.
Little know fact about Adelaide she worked for Santa, a 2nd fl bedroom was converted into a Christmas room at the Righter St home where she wrapped presents for all. In her later years she could be simply described as Cute. There was a sweetness about Adelaide the was the undeniable to anyone who ever was lucky enough to cross her path.
Adelaide is survived by her children: Adelaide L. Cianci, Marie C. Coyle, Diane P. Ries and her husband William, Frances A. Delmonte, and John G. Coyle, Jr., her grandchildren: Marie Cianci, Laura Hart, William G. Ries, Jr., Victoria McDermott, Joseph Delmonte, Rose Delmonte, John Delmonte, and Michael Coyle, and her great grandchildren: Jake Dolan, Celia McDermott, Paige McDermott, Luke McDermott, Mila Delmonte, Joey Delmonte, and Ellie Mae Delmonte. She is survived also by her siblings: Daniel Jefferys, Nora Patterson, Bernadette McLaughlin, and Dorothy Poloney: and predeceased by her siblings: Patrick Jefferys, Anna Greer, Theresa Gill, Marshall Jefferys, Mary Jefferys, Thomas Jefferys, and Joan Burns.
Relatives and friends are invited to Adelaide's Life Celebration on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. followed by her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Craft-Givnish Life Celebration Home, 1801 Old York Rd. Abington, PA 19001. Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Washington Crossing National Cemetery. Please arrive at the funeral home on Thursday by 8:30 a.m. if you are wishing to travel in procession to the cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers the family asks
In Adelaide's memory: "Please do something nice for someone and not get found out, if anybody knows it, it will not count."
