Adele E. Graham

Adele E. Graham passed away peacefully at home on November 19, 2025 at the age of 99.
Adele was born in Philadelphia on February 17, 1926. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Daniel P Graham, the love of her life. She will be missed by her two daughters, Jane
Marie Hammarstrom and Linda Graham Hansen, son in law Roger Hansen and her beloved
grandson, Douglas T. Hansen, who was a constant source of joy and entertainment.

Adele was named after a woman in France who protected American soldiers during World War
1, including her father, Paul E. Scott. An only child, Adele grew up in Philadelphia and spent
many summers with cousins, aunts and uncles at the family homes in Gettysburg, PA. During the
depression, she left high school to work and support her family. An accomplished dancer and
gymnast, she taught gymnastics and worked for the Department of Navy, before returning to
complete her education.

The family moved from Pennsylvania to Vienna, VA in 1959.

Adele taught at Our Lady of Good Counsel School in Vienna, VA for 40 years before moving into
school administration. She shared her love of learning and science with hundreds of students
and founded the school's first science lab. She started the OLGC eighth grade dinner theatre.
Her husband, Dan, helped with set design and building and it was always a fun and successful
event.

Adele and Dan enjoyed camping and traveling and visited Ireland, France, Germany, and the
Caribbean. There were many trips to visit family in Philadelphia, Chicago, and Cincinnati.

She shared her love of cooking with her daughters and her grandson, Doug. Many happy
moments revolved around culinary adventures and fun dinners.

She loved dogs and enjoyed spoiling each and every one.

Adele was an enthusiatic Washington Redskins fan, attending many games including a winning
Super Bowl. She even kept an autographed picture of Billy Kilmer on her office desk.

She retired after a fifty-year career teaching and working in education administration.

Adele enjoyed cooking, entertaining, gardening and always had time for her many friends.

She was well known for her swimming pool parties and fondue dinners, that always resulted in
great laughter and a few pieces of burnt and unidentifiable treats!

She relocated to Ashby Ponds Senior Living Community and spent thirteen years making
wonderful connections and engaging in new hobbies. Her friends and family will miss her
dearly.

The family is grateful for her wonderful caregivers, Courtney, Betty, and Vilma.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Vienna, VA, on Monday, December 1, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass from 11:00
to 12:00 noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Our Lady of Good Counsel School Wildcat Fund or Friends of Homeless Animals.
