CASTLE DALE- Adele Louise Ward Huntington, age 79, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, surrounded by family.
Adele was born on February 5, 1946, in Tremonton, Utah, to John Moroni Ward and Aleen Hansen Ward. She cherished her rural upbringing, often telling stories about growing up on her family's farm where she developed a deep love for her parents and five siblings that lasted throughout her life.
Adele met her husband, Ross Huntington, while attending Utah State University and they were married in Tremonton, Utah on September 16, 1967. They later solemnized their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple on June 3, 1970.
A lifelong student and proponent of education, she graduated from Bear River High School in 1964, earned her Bachelor's Degree in Commercial Art from Utah State University in 1968, and eventually earned her Master's Degree in Education from the University of Phoenix in 1994.
Adele crossed the country, living in Baltimore and Sacramento, while Ross completed his military service. They then moved back to Taylorsville, Utah, where Adele began her career in education, teaching art at Central Junior High in Salt Lake City for a couple of years. She and Ross moved to Castle Dale in 1974, where they resided for the remainder of Adele's life. For the following nine years, Adele focused on raising their four children.
In 1983, she re-entered the work force as an administrator for the College of Eastern Utah. The next year, she took a position teaching art at Canyon View Junior High in Huntington and a few years later, started working as the guidance counselor. She eventually moved to Emery High School in Castle Dale, where she continued to counsel thousands of students over the remainder of her 25-year career.
Adele was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her callings always seemed to take advantage of her abilities as a teacher. Her Relief Society lessons were always highlighted by hand-written calligraphy signs and she enjoyed teaching Primary later in life. She had an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and His mission.
Her talents were seemingly endless. She not only taught art but created it, and at times, had her own paintings and abstract pieces on display in her home. She was a talented seamstress, and made clothes and other items for herself and her family. She was an excellent cook and baker. She loved treats and always had a dish full of candy around her house, especially when the family gathered for board or card games. She loved to play games, and was a fierce competitor but couldn't seem to avoid falling into fits of infectious laughter.
Some of her favorite games were those with her Classic Club, a group of friends who would get together every other week to play Pinochle and visit, and who have remained close for over 50 years. She learned to golf and loved to spend this time with her friends. She was an active member of the local chapters of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was an excellent gardener and gift giver. She was a hard worker, always an optimist, and was full of life and a steady, powerful love.
Adele was a consummate caretaker, spending a significant amount of her time and incredible energy caring for her family. In retirement, that focus expanded to include her thirteen living grandchildren, chasing them all over the state to watch sports, music, and dance performances. She always found ways to serve others.
Adele is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ross Huntington; her four children, Todd (Angela) of Castle Dale, Utah, Nathan (Trine) of Fairview, Utah, Angela (Brendan) Call of Centerville, Utah, and Stanton (Becky) of Spanish Fork, Utah; along with thirteen grandchildren, all five of her siblings, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
Adele was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Stanley and Emma Huntington; and a granddaughter, Ainsley Adele Call.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Dr. Shane Gagon, Sandy Jensen with Symbii Hospice care, and the entire staff at San Rafael Health and Rehab in Ferron, all of whom took amazing care of Adele.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored if you would make a contribution in her name to the Emery County School District Foundation, c/o Emery County School District, P.O. Box 120, Huntington, Utah 84528.
