Sister Adele M. McAndrews, a longtime resident of Somerville and Malden, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021, after a long battle with dementia at the Glenridge Nursing Home in Medford. Adele was born in Malden in 1943, the daughter of Americo and Ethel Tenerielli. She was raised in Malden, graduating from Malden High School with the Class of 1961. In 1963, she married Robert McAndrews. They shared nearly 40 years of marriage until Roberts passing in 2002. As a devout Christian, she later joined the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi, and enjoyed being part of the Order.

Adele started out working in her early years as a Nurses Aid at the Whidden Hospital. She then graduated from Wilford Academy hair dressing school at the top of her class in 1976. She later went on to work as a hairdresser for 35 years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting, and helped to support St. Joseph's Parish and the Club 24 while living in Malden. She also spent many years volunteering at St. Elizabeth's Hospital giving the Eucharist and praying with the patients in need. Adele spent most of her free time volunteering and trying to help those in need in any way she could.

Sister Adele is survived by her son, Michael McAndrews, his spouse Sandy, of New Hampton, NH, her sisters Roberta DiMarco of Malden, Diane Tenerielli, her spouse Andy Carey of Revere, God Daughter Dawn Marie Bessler, niece Maria Stuart, and nephews Richard Harkins and James Harkins.

Funeral Services will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on Tuesday, Nov 9th, at 12 PM, with visitation beginning at 10AM. Interment to follow in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
