Adeline Catherine "Angela" Frey, born on October 13, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, departed this world peacefully on January 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family in O'Fallon, Missouri. Angela was known for her vibrant spirit, love for life, and unyielding independence, which touched everyone around her.
Angela was the proud daughter of John Ciesla and Rose Schendl, who instilled in her the values of determination and compassion. She was a beloved wife to her husband Edward Frey, whom she cherished during their 18 years of marriage, creating countless beautiful memories together. The duo shone particularly bright in the world of dance, winning numerous awards in competitions that showcased their talent and passion for the art.
As a mother, Angela was a best friend to her loving daughter, Catherine (Mark) Watson. Together, they shared moments that would become cherished memories, such as the times Angela devoted herself to creating stunning Halloween costumes for Catherine, often resulting in accolades at award shows. Angela’s legacy of creativity and love continued through her grandchildren—Ryan (Kelly) Trimble, Brendan (Lindsey) Trimble, Sara (Nathan) Hawkins, and Amanda Watson—whose lives were enriched by her radiant personality and affection.
Angela's love extended beyond her immediate family; she was a great grandparent whose heart swelled with pride for her great-grandchildren, including Riley, Connor, Ellie, Jace, and Jasmine. She found joy and purpose in supporting and nurturing them, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
Beyond her role in the family, Angela was a multi-talented woman who immersed herself in various hobbies. Tap dancing was one of her greatest passions, leading to not just competition wins but also joyous recitals. She embraced bowling as a fun pastime and found excitement in visiting the casino, always ready for the next adventure. Her sharp intelligence and quick wit made her a favorite among friends and family alike, as her humor brought laughter and light into every gathering.
Angela is survived by her loving daughter, Catherine (Mark) Watson; her cherished grandchildren, Ryan (Kelly) Trimble, Brendan (Lindsey) Trimble, Sara (Nathan) Hawkins, and Amanda Watson; her great-grandchildren, Riley, Connor, Ellie, Jace, and Jasmine; her nephew, Michael (Susan) Schendl; and great-nephew Nathan Schendl and great-niece Brynn Schendl.
Angela was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward Frey and her parents John Ciesla and Rose Schendl.
While we mourn the loss of a remarkable woman, we also celebrate the exceptional life Angela led—a life filled with unwavering love, companionship, and an abundance of joy. A Celebration of Angela's Life will be planned at a later date, and details will be shared with those invited to honor her memory. Angela Frey will forever remain in our hearts as a symbol of strength, love, and independence, a cornerstone of her family who will carry her spirit forward with every dance step, costume she sewed, and award-winning performance that encapsulated her love for life.
