Adeline "Lynn" (Howe) Leech, 81, died on December 10, surrounded by her family. Born on September 21, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri, Lynn grew up in Weston, Connecticut. She attended the Thomas School in Rowayton, CT, and Garland Junior College in Boston.
Lynn raised her family in Rye, New York, where she was an active member of the American Yacht Club, Rye Presbyterian Church, and United Hospital Twig, and taught kindergarten at Rye Country Day School. Lynn married Spencer Leech in 1989, and they moved to Bourne, Massachusetts, and later to Mystic, Connecticut, where they enjoyed sailing their Catalina 35, Stormy Petrel, and serving as Pilots at Mystic Seaport for many years.
Lynn adored her daughters, Kate (Longbotham) Fox of Beverly, MA, and Carolyn (Longbotham) Russell of Greenwich, CT, and their husbands, Matt Fox and Christopher Russell. She was immensely proud of her grandchildren, George and Nicholas Fox, and Parker and Honour Russell.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, Lynn is survived by brothers, Rick Howe and his wife, Alice, of Pocasset, MA, and Peter Howe and his wife, Nancy, of Black Mountain, NC; sister, Molly Putnam, and her husband, Ed, of Falmouth, MA; nephews, Christopher and Matthew Howe, Ryan and Taylor Singer, and David Howe; stepson, Spencer Leech, III, and his wife Jana Leech of Annapolis; stepdaughters, Elizabeth Leech of Seward, Alaska and Susanne Leech Drake and her husband, Jed Drake, of Jamestown, RI, and their daughter, Nicole.
She was predeceased by her parents, Katharine "Kaki" A. Howe and Frederick H. Howe, her husband, Spencer J. Leech, and her nephew, Brooks Singer.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31st, at Noank Baptist Church, 18 Cathedral Heights, Groton, CT.
