Adolfo Marquez, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on December 24, 2025, at the age of 85.

Born in October 1940, in Lucena City, Philippines, Adolfo-affectionately known as Al-was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family. He lived a full and curious life, marked by deep love for those closest to him and a genuine interest in the world around him. He was a devoted member of St. John's Catholic Parish in Fort Myers.

Adolfo earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a foundation that stayed with him throughout his life. Even when he wasn't working, he never stopped being an engineer-whether admiring the brilliance of the Hoover Dam or casually evaluating the grading of a parking lot, he always appreciated things that were well designed and well built.

He embraced many passions outside of work. Adolfo loved fishing in all its forms, from catching salmon and trout in Traverse City, Michigan, to deep-sea fishing. He was an avid sports fan who closely followed football, basketball, and golf. Traveling brought him great joy; he explored Europe, Israel, numerous National Parks, enjoyed cruises through the Caribbean and Mexico, and proudly visited 49 U.S. states, with Alaska remaining the last state on his list. A keen follower of the stock market, CNBC was often playing in the background of his home.

Adolfo also expressed his love through cooking. Family and friends fondly remember his dishes-especially palabok, lumpia, pancit, and molo-all undeniably masarap.

Adolfo was preceded in death by his parents, Iluminado Marquez, the first mayor of Padre Burgos, Quezon, and Dafrosa Parcero, a devoted school teacher, as well as by his siblings Teodoro, Noemi, and Nicanor.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dr. Lydia Marquez; his daughters, Dana Marquez (Joseph George) and Marissa Marquez (Kevin Lindholm); his siblings Marcelo Marquez (California), Grace Marquez (California), and Bernadita Marquez (Philippines); and his beloved grand dogs, Tia, Dewey, and Riley, who brought him much joy. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

Adolfo will be remembered for his gentle spirit, quiet humor, devotion to family, and the warmth he brought into every room. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
