Adrian Lungu

Adrian Lungu, age 71, returned to our Lord peacefully on October 14, 2021, at the Kobacker House hospice after a long struggle with multiple health issues. Adrian was born on July 30, 1950 and grew up in Galati, Romania, where he ran a successful business. Hoping to provide his family with greater opportunities, he began the process of immigrating to the United States in the 1990s, settling in Cleveland, Ohio, before moving to Columbus years later.
Adrian was married to Carmen (née Petrica) for 38 years. Adrian worked tirelessly for his family, sometimes two to three jobs, to build a new life in the United States. He excelled at multiple professions, including car mechanic, maintenance worker, and chef; he could with as much ease fix a car engine as he could fix a giant pot of stuffed cabbage leaves (sarmale) from his home-grown produce. Among his greatest joys was breaking bread with family and friends, hosting delicious several-course feasts made from his own hands, down to the wine. In his later years, he also enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren with handmade toys and goodies. He is most remembered for his cheerful attitude and relentless spirit of sacrifice providing for others.
Adrian is survived by his wife Carmen, two daughters Oana and Simona, and two grandchildren Eva and Leo. He was preceded in death by his parents Wilma and Ilie Lungu and his brother Valeriu. The visitation will be held at Egan Ryan Funeral Home on Sunday, October 17, from 2 to 5 pm at 403 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43215. A funeral Mass will take place on Monday, October 18 at 10:30 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 4383 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43213. Following the Mass, a funeral procession will lead the way to St. Joseph Cemetery for a graveside service and burial.
