Adron Phillip Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith Brothers Funeral Home - Hampton on Jan. 12, 2026.
Adron Phillip, affectionately known as "Butters," passed away on January 7, 2026, at the age of 66. He was born on December 9, 1959, in Trinidad and Tobago, and later migrated to the United States, where he ultimately made his home in Hampton, Virginia.

Adron was a proud and dedicated welder by trade, a craft he practiced with skill, precision, and integrity for many years. After a long and fulfilling career, he retired in 2024 and looked forward to spending his time enjoying the passions that brought him the greatest happiness.

One of Adron's greatest loves was cooking. It was more than a hobby-it was a gift he joyfully shared with others. He owned and operated a restaurant and also provided catering services, using food as a way to bring people together. Cooking and baking were his love language, and he took pride in feeding family, friends, and community with care, flavor, and generosity.

Adron carried his Caribbean culture with him wherever he went. He loved Calypso music and the sound of the steelpan, and there was always rhythm in his step. That rhythm showed itself in his dancing, singing, laughter, and in the way he effortlessly became the life of any gathering.

When he wasn't cooking or celebrating, Adron found peace during quiet moments at the beach, listening to the waves and enjoying the calm of the ocean. He also loved gardening, taking pride in nurturing and growing life-much like he nurtured the people around him.

Above all, Adron was a selfless and generous man. If someone needed help, he never hesitated. He gave freely of his time, his talents, and his heart, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Adron shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Jean Phillip, to whom he was married for 35 years. Their union was one of love, partnership, and devotion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wells and Anita Phillip; his son, Dwight Phillip; and his siblings, Marilyn Phillip and Curtis Phillip.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Jean Phillip; his children, Dion, Kerrun, Sue Ann, Nigel, and Dyiena; and his grandchildren, Dion Jr., Kernyah, Trayvon, Jeremiah, Nasir, Malachi, Jaliyah, Nigel Jr., Khanija, Keishawn, and Makai.

He is also survived by his siblings, Boswell, Kitson, Yvonne, and Sandra, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Adron never liked saying goodbye or "later." Instead, he would simply say, "Earlier." So today, we do not say goodbye-we say earlier, until we meet again.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
