Ronald Phillip Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DeGusipe Funeral Home & Crematory - R. Lee Williams Chapel on Mar. 9, 2026.
Ronnie was born in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1949 to Geneva Morrison. He was the

eldest of 10 kids, an adventurer from the beginning, always looking for something or

somewhere new to discover. A lover of music and travel, he was well versed in many

different cultures.

Ronnie attended Tech and Central high school in Omaha, Nebraska before joining the

United States Marine Corps to serve his country during the Vietnam War. During that

service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign

Medal, and the Rifle Marksman Badge. He continued with his military service as a

Reservist and a Department of Defense Army Corps of Engineer employee, working

hard to provide for his family, until he retired.

Ronnie was a devoted and loving father of 5 children, Dominic Phillips, Ron Phillips, Jr.,

Shawnta Dean (Ward), Shana Williams (deceased), and his baby Jaru Phillips, who all

dearly miss him and the life lessons that he imparted to them. He took great pride in all

his children, Grandchildren (Andrew, Simone, LaDrae, Peyton, Gabe, Pharrell, Elijah

and Paris, Isaiah), and a host of Great Grandchildren. He will also be missed and loved

by former wife(s) Vickie and Connie, and current wife Maricelle.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother Geneva, his sisters Teresa and Tracey,

brother Derek Crawford, third wife Patricia, and step-daughter Shana. He is survived by

his Brothers and Sisters (Valora (Charmaine), Larry, William (Dooney), Ann, James, and

Michael), a host of nieces and nephews, friends and family and will be missed and

loved by all of his survivors.

Ron Phillips was a great friend and athlete at Horace Mann Jr. High , he ran on the track team , the 60 , 100 yard dash ,and played basketball with myself and Johnny Rogers , Charles Mc . We talked a lot and reconnected over old stories about growing up. I was a contractor with the Army Corps of Engineers , when he retired he said he was moving out the country which he did for awhile. I'm going to miss my childhood friend. I didn't know we shared family but I was very pleased because he's always been a great friend. Gone but never forgotten your friend Robert L. Gould

Ronnie - Getting to know you over the last several years has been a treasure. Thanks for inviting me into your life and accepting me. You definitely took a hold of a piece of my heart since June 2018.

I will always carry you in my heart-the moments we shared, the smiles you brought to my face, and all the conversations we had about photography and travel.

I will always remember you as a great person. I truly thank God for loving my mom all these years.

This is not a goodbye, but a "see you later," because those we love are never truly gone; they have simply gone ahead of us on the path toward the home where one day we will embrace again.

With Love Jean Paul

Ronnie. I truly appreciate our relationship and love and support you gave me. Thank you for accepting me and my children as your grandchildren. I will continue to care of Simone and Andrew as I promised over 20 years ago. I will miss our talks. Rest now..
