A. Socorro Gutierrez, affectionately referred to as "Coco" by friends and family, died on September 15th, 2025, in her home in Columbus, Georgia. Coco is survived by her husband Leopoldo Gutierrez, her daughter Evelyn (Michael), her sons: Rudy (Elvia) and Larry (Silvia), and her grandchildren: Shane, Trevor, Fyona, Paulina, and Alexa.

Coco was born on January 10th, 1937, in the city of Granada in Nicaragua, and later moved to Managua where she would start her family. Eventually, Coco would immigrate to the United States-fleeing political turmoil-and take her family with her where they would establish themselves in Virginia. After many years, however Coco would move to Georgia where she would ultimately settle with her daughter and family.

Laboring tirelessly to provide a better life for her household, Coco would never fail to spare time to perform selfless acts of service for her friends and community. Her unshakable faith and dedication to worship were ancillary to her devotion in living the central tenets of her faith.

Coco leaves behind a legacy of survival and strength: moving her family, working multiple jobs to support them and taking an active role in her grandchildren's lives. Her strong familial ties, prominent membership in the church and loyal friendships are a testament to the life she strived to live.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the employees of Empyrean Hospice for their care and services for the duration of Coco's illness. A service will be held at a later date.

Georgia Cremation-Columbus is assisting the family with the arrangements.
