Aida Luz Rivera, age 98, of Winter Springs, Florida, entered into eternal life, peacefully, at her home. She was born in Ciales, Puerto Rico, and later moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she lived for 18 years with her husband, Carmelo Rivera, and their two daughters, Carmen Aida and Luz Marina. There she studied cosmetology and later had her own beauty salon.

In 1979, she moved with her family to Florida, where she became very active in Catholic Church ministry, becoming Orlando’s first Hispanic Director of Woman’s Cursillo. Aida was also very devoted to the music ministry, and participated in several church choirs during her lifetime. One of the highlights of her life was travelling to Rome, Italy in 1998 to sing with her church choir before Pope John Paul II.

Aida was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carmelo Rivera. She is survived by her two daughters: Carmen Aida (Jorge) Medina and Luz Marina Bardill, 5 grandchildren: Skye Bardill, Solimar (Hersel) Pepler, Gabriel (Chad) Medina, Angelica Medina, and Jessica (James) Marshall, 10 great-children, and 1 great-great grandchild.
