Aileen F. Schaefer, 95, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born February 15, 1928, in the Tilsit community, daughter of Martin A. and Flora (Siebert) Voges.
Aileen was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit. At the age of two, her family moved to Cape Girardeau and became members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, the church of her confirmation and her marriage to Carrol A. Schaefer on August 8, 1953. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She and Carrol had been married 59 years when he passed away November 14, 2012.
Aileen was a graduate of Trinity Lutheran Grade School in Cape Girardeau, and a 1946 graduate of Cape Central High School.
Aileen worked six years at Osterlohs Book Store and two years at Quality Stamps Store, both in Cape Girardeau.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Donna Rae (Robert) James, Jr. of Cape Girardeau; a granddaughter, Terra Dawn (Roger) Aufdenberg, and two great-grandchildren, Craig Adam Aufdenberg and Emily Dawn Aufdenberg, all of Burfordville.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Raymond Voges; and her parents.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. to service time, Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The Rev. Douglas Breite will conduct the funeral service at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
If considering a memorial, contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church or School, or Saxony Lutheran High School are suggested.
