Al Metzler Obituary

Albert "Al" Metzler

June 19, 1948 – October 22, 2025

Albert "Al" Metzler, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 19, 1948, Al lived a life full of laughter, love, and kindness that touched everyone he met. As a child he smiled so often he became known as "Hap", a family nickname he carried with pride to the end of his life.

He was blessed to spend 49 years with his devoted wife, Rosanne (which he always called RoRo). Together, they built a family rooted in love and joy, raising two children, Ryan and Logan, and cherishing his grandchildren, Emily and Daniel.

A retired salesman, Al was known for his friendly spirit and his ability to make anyone feel at home. He loved sitting on the front porch in his rocking chair, greeting neighbors and friends with a smile and a wave (even the four legged friends). Al also had a deep love for travel, especially to beach destinations where he could relax, swim in the ocean, and enjoy time with family.

Service defined Al's life, from his time as an Eagle Scout to proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army National Guard. As a father, he served his community in his volunteer work for his village and the local soccer club.

He will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, and the countless stories he shared (and repeated!) with those lucky enough to know him. His family and friends will forever treasure the memories of evenings on the porch, family vacations, and his unwavering love and support.

A celebration of Al's life will be held at Thomas A. Glynn & Son Funeral Home 20 Lincoln Ave Rockville Centre, NY 11570 on Sunday November 9, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scouting America (formerly the Boy Scouts of America). Troop 40 United Church of Rockville Centre Attention Michael O'Hare 430 Morris Ave Rockville Centre, NY 11570.
