Alan Lee House-Anderson, age 78 of St. Charles passed away after a brave battle with leukemia at his home on September 12, 2025.
Alan was born on April 30, 1947 in Chicago, IL to Vernice House-Anderson. Alan attended St. Charles Elementary School and graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1965. He attended the University of Minnesota where he obtained an Associate Degree and then Mankato State College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He also attended Anoka-Hennepin Technical College. He was employed as a construction worker, welder, maintenance supervisor, field service engineer, and pallet machine designer/programmer. He was a field service engineer, machine installer and trainer for Viking Engineering and Development for 20 years. This allowed for much travel throughout the United States, Italy, Sweden and Norway. Alan was also employed as a manufacturing engineer (EDS specialist) with Benchmark Electronics (in Winona and Rochester) for 6 years. Alan's first job was as summer help for the John Deere dealer in St. Charles (Luehmann Implement) prior to starting college.
Alan joined the Golden Valley, Minnesota Volunteer Fire Department in 1971 and was a pumper operator, ladder truck operator and lieutenant firefighter. He served as their trustee, vice-president and treasurer for their relief association. He retired in 1991. He was a volunteer with the Minnesota Transportation Museum doing street car restoration.
On December of 14, 1996 Alan and Sandy were united in marriage in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. The couple currently owns the White Rose Bridal and Formal Wear in St. Charles and has for more than 23 years.
When Alan's uncles Jesse and Francis House needed help on the family farm, Alan provided weekend and vacation help when possible. Upon the death of Jessie, Alan and his wife Sandy moved to St. Charles in 2005 and began farming, assisting Francis until his passing.
Alan is survived by his wife of 28 years Sandy of St. Charles, daughter Kimberly (Chris) Jutz, grandchildren Matthew and Katelyn Jutz, mother-in-law Betty Thomas, sister-in-law Debbie Moore, cousins Roger (Priscilla) Koenig, Patricia Koenig, Thomas (Lou) Koenig and Karen (Jan) Koenig all of St. Charles. He is further survived by cousin Barbara Nelson of Mankato and several other family members.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents William and Anna House, his mother Vernice House-Anderson, uncles Francis and Jesse House, aunts Evelyn Weilbacher, Dolores Koenig, Ruby Nelson Rolhoff and cousins David Koenig and Linda Kunkel.
A funeral for Alan will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with Pastor Thomas Fast officiating.
Visitation will take place at the Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles on Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 4-6 p.m. and again at the church one hour prior to services.
Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery of St. Charles following the services and all are welcome to share memories during the luncheon at the church.
