Alan Bennett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harder Funeral Home - Brookfield on Dec. 13, 2025.
He was one of one. Al Bennett passed away peacefully December 9. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Kenneth. He is survived by his son Erran (Amy) and beloved grandsons Max and Cooper, cherished siblings Janice Solie (David), Bruce (Margot) and Lori Valachovic (Steve). Further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and their spouses along with many friends.
Al loved his family and friends, his cats, his freedom, his motorcycles and the open road. He was a lifetime member of the BMW MOA. In his spare time, he travelled the country on his BMW. He could tell you the back route with the best hills and curves to any location in the Midwest. He hit all lower 48 states. He would tell you that was a disappointment. He wished it was 47, avoiding the state to the south.
Al also loved making people uncomfortable with his dark sense of humor. He gave people nicknames whether they wanted them or not. Most stuck. The names of his cats were legendary. His humor had a sharp edge, but it wasn't mean. He was once asked why he didn't regularly exercise. He replied "I believe you are only given so much energy. When you use it up you die. I'm smart. I'm conserving."
He will be missed.
A celebration of Alan's life will take place on January 17 from 12-3 at Champps Americana in Brookfield. It will be casual like he was.
