Alan Bohnenkamp Obituary
He was born on Feb. 19, 1954 in Fort Madison, to Vincent H. and Avis Morris Bohnenkamp. He married Katherine J. Schneider on April 13, 1974 in Fort Madison. He retired from the J.I. Case Company in Burlington with over 30 years of service. He spent his retirement years with his family, traveling and participating in all RAGBRAI events since 2008. He enjoyed spending winters in Cozumel, Mexico, scuba diving and training for RAGBRAI. He also enjoyed hunting deer with his brothers and fishing with his grandchildren.
Alan is survived by his wife, Kathy Bohnenkamp of Fort Madison; two daughters: Carol (Troy) Ross of West Point and Kimberly (Brian) Ellis of Fort Madison; one son, Lucas (Becky) Bohnenkamp of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren: Nathaniel (fiancée Emily Hofer) Harter, Emily Ross, Megan Shacklett, Ryan Shacklett, Elgin Bohnenkamp, Joseph Bohnenkamp and Kat Bohnenkamp; one sister, Judy (John) Hawes of Cedar Rapids; three brothers: David Bohnenkamp of Argyle, Eric (Donna) Bohnenkamp of Fort Madison and Brian (Jackie) Bohnenkamp of Fort Madison; four brothers-in-law: Jerry Persky of Bettendorf, Bill (Margaret) Schneider of Nauvoo, Ill., John (Theresa) Schneider of Denmark and David (Jonna) Schneider of Fort Madison and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Donna Persky, Laura Traman and Linda Bohnenkamp; one sister-in-law Mary Bohnenkamp; two nieces: Michelle Persky and Maria Hellweg and a nephew, David Persky.
A visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Chad Savage officiating. Burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery.
