Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral & Cremation Services - DelhiWith heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Alan “Opie” Doll, age 42, on February 24, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He is survived by his loving parents, Jane Royse and Ron Doll (Peggy); his sister, Jenny (Jason); his brother, Brandan (Jenna); his nieces and nephews, Abby, Adam, Ashley (Tyler), Aiden, Annalise, Naysa, and Everly; his step-siblings, Stacy (Robert), Rachael, Craig, and Eric; and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Alan lived simply, with a reflective and theoretical mind. He found great peace in the outdoors and the quiet beauty of nature. He was a skilled woodworker, painter, and drywaller, as well as a talented musician, songwriter, poet, artist, and avid reader. He created with his hands and from his heart. He loved animals - perhaps more than people at times - especially cats, who always seemed to sense his gentle spirit.
Alan touched many lives with his quirky, one-of-a-kind personality and a silly sense of humor that would always leave a smile on your face. He had a genuine goodness and a selfless spirit. He gave freely from his compassionate heart and was always willing to help anyone in need, even when he was struggling himself. Alan died after a long battle with his mental health and addiction, which he faced with courage and honesty throughout his life. His kindness, creativity, quiet strength, and unique sense of humor will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, Alan’s life and his journey can be honored through memorial contributions to Madi’s House (mhcincy.org). In his memory, and in honor of others who may be struggling, we encourage anyone facing mental health challenges to reach out for help and support. You are not alone. If you or someone you love is in crisis, help is available by calling or texting 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
