Alan William Gerds, 88 of New Lisbon, previously Stevens Point, passed away on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025 at home. Alan was born on December 12, 1936 in Milwaukee WI to the late Elmore and LaVerne Gerds. He went to Christ Memorial Grade School in Milwaukee. In his teen years he enjoyed playing basketball and was a Caddy at Tripoli Country Club in Brown Deer WI. He was a graduate of Custer High School.

He learned the art of meat cutting and advanced to manager at several stores in the Milwaukee area. He had a knack for marketing and sales and was a number cruncher, all good qualities to have as a manager. Alan married Carole Fredrick on 1/15/1967. Their beloved Packers played in Super Bowl 1 that day and won! They of course watched. Alan's children Jeff and Kathryn, along with Carole's children Aaron and Cara started a new family. A few years later Darren and April were born. Alan and Carole's children made the family of yours, mine, and ours complete.

Alan loved his family. He enjoyed playing all types of cards. Sheepshead (which the children were taught), was a favorite. He was an avid golfer getting three holes in one, loved reading, and enjoyed traveling, but what he loved most was fishing. Alan enjoyed fishing trips to Canada with his brother, sons, grandsons and nephew.

After Carole's passing, he married Donna Mae Wrosch. They had 10 wonderful years together and she took on the roll of Grandma to all of the grandchildren. After her passing Alan met Betty Ruland who was his life partner for the remainder of his life. They enjoyed playing cards, family gatherings, hosting parties, dancing, music shows, spending their Summers in WI and their Winters in Florida.

Alan is survived by his son Jeff (Victoria) Graceville FLA., daughter Kathryn Minor Germantown WI, Stepson Aaron (Elizabeth) Erdmann Iola WI, Stepdaughter Cara Frias (Louis) Iola WI, Son Darren (Sue) Iola WI, daughter April Weed (Tracy) Benton TN. 20 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren and his brother, Russ (Mary) Colgate WI. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmore and LaVerne Gerds and his brother Robert Gerds.

A Service of Remembrance will be held for Alan at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025 at Pisarski Community Funeral Home, 2911 Plover Road, Plover. A visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. There will be a private burial. Pisarski Funeral Homes are honored to be serving the Gerds Family.
