Mr. Alan Edward Gillingham, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, surrounded by his family, at his home after an extended illness. Mr. Alan was born in Guernsey, Channel Islands; Moved to Canada and became a Canadian citizen. After marrying Marie, they lived in Canada, New Jersey, Las Vegas, and Florida. They relocated to Appling County, where they spent the last 23 years. Mr. Alan worked in Retail Sales for most of his life and retired here in Baxley, GA. He was an avid Manchester United Football Club Fan and could be found spending countless hours watching matches on TV. He was also a huge Frank Sinatra Fan. Preceding him in death are his parents, William Clifford and Bertha Lilian (Bullock) Gillingham, Lilian Masterton Gillingham, along with several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, Marie (Wood) Gillingham; daughter, Susan Callahan; son, Neal (Cathy) Gillingham; grandchildren, Brian, Tara, Alan, Adam, and Lilian; and great-granddaughters, Camille, Molly, and Stevie; along with Alan's sister, Pearl Tostevin. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at the chapel of Nobles Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Ferguson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Omega Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are Clay Ferguson, Tate Wood, Brian Gillingham, Adam Callahan, and Joe Ferguson. Honorary Pallbearers are Hospice of South Georgia, Crystie (Tornado) Harrelson, and Sandra Smith. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of South Georgia in Jesup, GA. The staff of Nobles Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Alan Edward Gillingham.
