ALAN HANVEY, age 73, of Concord Georgia, passed away on 25 November 2024. He was born in Birmingham Alabama on 7 July 1951 to the late Thomas and Margaret Hanvey. In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded in death by his brother, David Hanvey.
Alan is survived by his wife, Janice Hanvey, and children, Vanessa Hanvey and Zachary Hanvey, brother, Joseph Hanvey (Christine), and nieces, nephews.
Alan Hanvey was known for his generosity and humor. Many will remember Alan as hard working, sincere, and gracious. A skilled carpenter, Alan spent his life not only building homes but also community. Alan enjoyed reading and a history buff, avid fan of UGA football, Nascar Racing and his favorite music was the Rolling Stones. Alan enjoyed humor, and he could make anyone laugh, especially with one of his Little Johnny jokes and Under the Bleachers series by Seymour Butz to name a few.
"It is well known that humor, more than anything else in the human make-up, can afford an aloofness and an ability to rise above any situation, even if only for a few seconds." -Viktor Emil Frankl
Words of wisdom, loved and lived by Alan, "Measure twice, Cut once" (James1:2-4). As he would state with his quiet smile, a necessity for any carpenter worth his weight. "The measure you give will be the measure you get back" (Luke 6:36-38)
Alan will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and his pets, Sadie, Gracie, and Oscar. He was our world, and we are better for knowing and loving him.
