So sorry to hear of Alan's passing. I have fond memories of both Margie and Alan starting when they were dating. My sister, Linda, was good friends with Margie in high school and as the tag along younger sister, I became friends with Margie and then Alan. Margie stood up to my wedding. Both my husband and I remember when living in Chicago, Alan after dinner said, hey want to see my lab and the latest equipment I've been working on in my lab?...We went to his lab and he showed us this interesting beam of red light. Alan was so excited explaining all of the possibilities that this red light would bring, and talking way over our heads of just what this was, a laser! We truly thank him for all of his contributions to developing this ground breaking addition to the science world. Margie and Alan came to visit us as we moved around the states including a visit while we lived in Salt Lake City. I last talked with Alan and although he dearly missed Margie, he was enjoying life, laughing and joking. He made great contributions in making this world a better place. He will be missed.
