Alan Mennel Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 7, 2025.
Alan Craig Mennel, of Bordentown, formerly of Moorestown, NJ, passed away on September 29, 2025. Born in Trenton, NJ to the late John and Virginia (nee Golinsky) Mennel, he was 77 years old.
Alan was the beloved husband of Cynthia Ann Mennel (nee Sampayo) for 51 years until her passing in November of 2022. He was the cherished father of Pamela Anne Mennel and Kimberly Irene Mennel, both of Bryan, Texas; loving brother of Dr. Robert G. Mennel (Elizabeth), brother-in-law of Maryann Clemmer (Doug); dear uncle of John Mennel, Emilie Collins, Jennifer Smallwood, Gary Sampayo, and Valerie Yoder.
Alan was a buyer of linens for Dunham's department store and then All-In-One Linen Outlets for 20 years prior to starting his own linen distribution business.
He was family oriented and genuinely cherished time spent with any of his family members and close friends, whom he considered an extension of his family.
Alan also enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including bird watching and nature photography. He was an avid sports fan, and always knew the stats for his favorite teams, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles.
True to his Trenton roots, Alan loved learning about New Jersey, and collected interesting facts and anecdotes about his favorite state. In recent years, Alan began writing political thriller novels set in his native New Jersey. He published two books in the "Jersey Murder Series" under his pseudonym P.K. Abbot: "Blood Contest" and "Monster's Dream."
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 42 W. Main Street, Moorestown, NJ, on Saturday March 28th from 9:30 – 10:30 am. Mass will begin at 10:30 am, followed by inurnment in Lakeview Memorial Park, Mausoleum of the Saints, Route 130 North in Cinnaminson, NJ.
